Suspected Drunken Driver Flees Scene of Alleged Car Jacking

Car's passenger tells California Highway Patrol she was carjacked and kidnapped.

A suspected drunken driver ran off after being pulled over by police on state Route 94 between Lemon Grove and La Mesa today, and the woman in the passenger seat claimed she had been carjacked.

California Highway Patrol officers were investigating the woman's allegations.

Officers stopped a Ford Escort with a suspected drunken driver for speeding and weaving shortly before 1 a.m. on eastbound state Route 94 at Lemon Grove Avenue, CHP Officer Brain Pennings said.

The driver stopped in the left lane then ran from the vehicle, across the westbound lanes, Pennings said.

The woman, the car's registered owner, was left behind in the passenger seat, Pennings said. She said the suspect carjacked and kidnapped her.

Officers set up a perimeter and called in a San Diego police helicopter and dogs from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to assist, but were unable to locate the suspect, Pennings said.

Nice if you can actually pass such a bill but we are dealing with politicians who cherish the powerRead More they have attained rising to the top. In actuality this has "A Snowballs Chance In Hell" of passing, but kudos for the effort.
