Three Suffer Major Injuries Following Solo-Vehicle Crash

The car ended up on its roof at the east end of Mount Vernon Street.

A car crashed into an open field at the east end of Mount Vernon Street early Saturday morning, ejecting the three males inside and landing on its roof, according to the Sheriff’s Department. All three were transported to Mercy Hospital with significant injuries.

At 2:50 a.m. deputies responding to reports of a solo-vehicle crash found the silver Nissan Altima in a field near the intersection of Mount Vernon Street and Lawton Drive, according to Sgt. Michelle McPhail. The car was resting on its roof and the three males, all under the age of 21, were apparently not wearing seatbelts as they were lying outside the car, according to McPhail.

The names and condition of the three injured males were not released. Traffic units from the are investigating the incident.
