Vehicles Ticketed, Towed During Sheriff's Sweep in Spring Valley

From 7 a.m. until noon Saturday, deputies focused on abandoned and illegally parked vehicles.

Sheriff’s deputies swept through Spring Valley Saturday morning, looking for abandoned, illegally parked and unregistered vehicles in high-crime areas, according to the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station. The operation lasted from 7 a.m. until noon and resulted in 36 towed vehicles, 55 parking citations and five moving violations.

“By cleaning up the streets of illegally stored vehicles, abandon vehicles, unregistered vehicles, and illegally parked vehicles, crime starts to go down in those areas and community members start to take pride in their neighborhoods,” stated a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Department.

Statistics show that neighborhood crime rates go up when the streets are littered with abandoned and illegally parked cars, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
