Authorities investigating a number of home break-ins throughout East County arrested a San Diego woman on illegal firearms charges Wednesday morning in a home just across the Lemon Grove city line, according to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
At about 8 a.m., investigators from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station serving a warrant on a residence in the 1200 block of Evelyn Street in San Diego discovered Jessie Afaga Collins, 38, in possession of stolen firearms, ammunition and high-capacity magazines.
Authorities seized seven firearms, six handguns, and one assault rifle during the search of Collins’ home and took the convicted felon into custody, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris May.
The investigation into the string of residential burglaries is ongoing, and it is not clear whether Collins is a suspect. Three of the firearms were identified as stolen from homes throughout San Diego County.
Collins is being held at Las Colinas Detention Facility. Jail records indicate she is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 13 in the El Cajon Superior Court.
