City Extends Pardon on Unlicensed Pooches

An amnesty program set to expire Nov. 17 has been extended through the end of the month.

The city has extended its amnesty program for wayward dog owners who have not licensed their pet, or let the license lapse.

The 30-day pardon was scheduled to end Nov. 17, but will now be good through the end of the month. The usual $10 to $25 in penalties will be waived during this period.

Dog license fees are set to increase Nov. 17, but dog owners can still take advantage of savings by licensing or renewing their animal’s license through Nov. 30.

All dogs in the city must be licensed at four months of age.

The rate schedule works in favor of owners who have had their dog spayed or neutered. Money can be saved up front by licensing the pet for a longer period of time.
