Toll Ticket? Take Advantage of Reduced Penalty Program from SANDAG

The Clean Slate incentive program could decrease fine by as much as 80 percent.

The estimated 58,000 South Bay Expressway drivers with outstanding toll violations can settle them at a deep discount under an incentive program that begins today.

During the monthlong run of the Clean Slate incentive program, the San Diego Association of Governments will accept the cost of the toll plus a reduced penalty amount, which could be as little as around $20, down from as much as $100.

According to SANDAG, those who fail to pay for the violations could end up with a vehicle registration hold placed at the Department of Motor Vehicles, which in turn could lead to a ticket for an expired license plate. They could also be referred to a collections agency, or have the toll and penalty amounts deducted from their income tax return, SANDAG officials said.
