Resident Leadership Academy

Residents interested in becoming more involved in Lemon Grove are invited to attend a free 14-week workshop and help generate change in the community. Bring your ideas for a better Lemon Grove!

The focus areas of the Resident Leadership Academy are healthy physical activity and nutrition through the development and implementation of a community improvement project. Communities with limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables, high concentrations of alcohol outlets, few recreation facilities and higher rates of street crime are more likely to have poor health outcomes.

Within San Diego County, specific geographic areas often experience disproportionate rates of overweight and obseity, resulting in a higher prevalence of chronic disease.

The classes meet on Wednesdays through Nov. 30, from 5:30 p.m to 8 p.m. On-site childcare will be provided. For questions or to reserve a spot, call Robin McNulty at 619-825-5655 or email rmcnult@lgsd.k12.ca.us.

The Lemon Grove School District has been selected as one of four community-based organizations to take part in this opportunity administered through Community Health Improvement Partners and funded from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the County of San Diego.
