Golden Avenue Students Receive 'Shining Star' Awards

The girls were recognized by the school district at Tuesday's board meeting.

The Lemon Grove School District named four Golden Avenue Elementary School students “Shining Stars” for the work they do as volunteers with their special-needs classmates.

Iza McGawley, Zuheily Arellano, Juliette Oser and Ariana Herrera routinely spend their recess and other free time with children in the school's special education class, playing, reading and doing fun activities. Theo Agey, the special education instructor, presented a video to board members and those in the audience, and praised the girls for their work. Superintendent Ernie Anastos presented the certificates.
