Friday Night Lights: Week 3 of High School Football
In the Top 10: Helix and Mount Miguel host key games; Poway visits Lincoln.
It's only Week 3 of the high school football season, but among the prep teams in San Diego County falling within Patch.com sites, the only battle between unbeaten 2-0 teams has Point Loma visiting Mount Miguel in Spring Valley for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Matadors are ranked sixth in the county in the latest Sportswriters/Sportscasters Poll.
Mar Vista (1-0) had a bye last week and will host 2-0 Francis Parker.
Helix (1-1), ranked second to Eastlake in the poll, hosts No. 4 Cathedral Catholic (2-0) in La Mesa at 7 p.m. in one of two games matching Top 10 teams. No. 3 Oceanside (1-1) visits No. 7 Mira Mesa (2-0) in the other matchup.

Firth-ranked Poway (2-0) travels to Lincoln (0-1) for a 6:30 game and No. 9 La Costa Canyon visits a strong San Clemente High (2-0) team.
On Saturday, Coronado (2-0) will play at Santa Fe Christian (1-1) in a 2 p.m. start.

The weekend action got an early start with a Thursday night game. Sage Burmeister scored four touchdowns, including an 81-yard punt return, as La Jolla Country Day routed Vincent Memorial in Calexico, 56-0. The Torreys surged to a 49-0 halftime lead in improving their record to 3-0.
