Girls Hoop Playoffs: Mount Miguel Crushes Santana
Matadors prevail 62-27 and advance to the CIF Division III semis, where they'll host Mission Bay on Tuesday.
The Mount Miguel High girls basketball team easily advanced to the CIF San Diego Section Division III semifinals with a 62-27 victory over Santana on Friday.
The Madadors , seeded second in the division, will now host third-seeded Mission Bay on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Mission Bay was a 61-41 winner over University City in Friday's quarterfinal action. Top-seeded Our Lady of Peace will host fourth-seeded Cathedral Catholic in the other semifinal.
Shay Young scored 27 points to lead Mount Miguel, equaling the Santana team total. Danielle Miller added 25 points and had 11 steals. Myisha Watkins chipped in 10 points and 11 assists.
