Mount Miguel Escapes with 28-27 Win Over Valhalla
Derrick Dunn gains 118 yards and scores twice, Daniel Morales blocks potential winning FG.
Derrick Dunn rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and caught two passes for 27 yards as Mount Miguel High staved off Valhalla 28-27 in a non-league football game Friday night at Valhalla.
It was a bookend night for Dunn, who scored on a 6-yard run in the first quarter and a 4-yard run in the final period.
But the key play of the game belonged to Daniel Morales, who blocked a last-second field goal by Valhalla to preserve the Matadors’ second victory in as many starts. Mount Miguel was ranked seventh in the county this week in the Sportswriters/Sportscasters Poll.

The kick for the win by Valhalla’s Ramsey Romano was launched at a low trajectory.
“It hit me right in the face mask,” said Morales.
