Tony Romo Quarterbacks a Win at Celebrity Golf Event

Cowboys signal caller promptly donates his $25,000 winner’s check from the Cox Celebrity Championship to the Drew Brees Dream Foundation.

He’s getting married next weekend (sorry, ladies), so Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo should be expecting gifts. But on Sunday at Morgan Run Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, he was the one giving generously.

Romo shot a final-round 4-under-par 67 to win the 13th Cox Celebrity Championship by two strokes, then handed over his $25,000 check from the $100,000 purse to tournament host and Del Mar resident Drew Brees, donating the funds to the Brees Dream Foundation.

“The number of fans and the amount of support for this tournament are each a testament to Drew Brees,” said Romo following the winner’s trophy presentation. “It’s a great tournament and I feel lucky to be a part of it.”

Including Romo’s donation, $135,000 was raised for the Brees Dream Foundation, earmarked for four local charities–Rady Children’s Hosptial, San Diego Armed Services YMCA, Friends of Scott Foundation and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Pacific South Coast Chapter.

Former hockey player Dan Quinn was second, two shots behind Romo over the two rounds. First-round leader and former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder finished at 1-under par after a 74 on Sunday. NFL Hall of Fame electee and San Diego State alumnus Marshall Faulk was fourth at even par 142 for 36 holes.

Four-time champion Rick Rhoden and fellow MLB veteran Vince Coleman finished at 1-over in a tie for fifth.

That's OK, Doesn't Mean Anything for the Trojans, Like NCAA rules, or being a serial violators “six times.” The “the great moments” took place at the same time they cheated. All I care about is the record books will show a forfeit. If they don’t care, that shows what a bunch od slobs they are. http://bit.ly/jWKFjh
