Undefeated! Lemon Grove Beats Texas 9-1 for Berth in Semifinals

Playing in rain, Lemon Grove's All-Stars grab No. 1 seed in Pool B. Their semi-final opponent has yet to be decided.

After a walk-off win Wednesday, the Lemon Grove Senior League All-Stars defeated the West University Little League from Houston, Texas, 9-1 on Thursday and advance to the semifinals of the Senior League World Series.

Despite bad weather, the team was up for the challenge. The 8 p.m. EST game against the U.S. Southwest champions had to be rescheduled due to rain.

“The boys were definitely ready for this one,” said Paul Alcoser. “The conditions made it really hard, so mistakes were made on both sides. Fortunately for us, we were able to take advantage.”

Alcoser's son is utility player Nico Alcoser.

“Brandon Weed pitched an outstanding game, and the bats came alive,” the proud father said.
