Are You Experiencing Healthy Eating and Active Living?

How ya doin? How's the health? How's the waistline?

Well I feel fat! I know for me it's been a challenge to stay fit of late - what with an overly awesome wife who happens to feed so well her newlywed husband. It's so easy for me lately to take it easy, enjoy great cooking and then avoid my normal running routine.

All my responsibility.

With my lack of exercise and a somewhat lackadaisical approach to my eating habits, I have found myself with a gut on me that is growing and growing. Not cool. Not fit. Not what I want.

So, what can you do with that?

The irony is for the past year, I have been part of the city's community committee called "The HEAL Zone," a project aimed at reducing obesity and having those of us in the Lemon to HEAL: experiencing Health Eating, Active Living.

The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone, funded by Kaiser Permanente and facilitated by the non-profit Community Health Improvement Partners, is a 3-year, 9-month project that will empower the residents of Lemon Grove to eat better and move more as a part of daily life.

So it's up to me. I guess I could heed the call to eat healthier and live more actively. To practice what the committee is preaching. To check out the Facebook page HERE. To review the website HERE.

And to watch and broadcast proudly the PSA I created for the cause. Check it out. It's pretty darn good. HERE.

And the last thing I could do is encourage you to join me. The healthy life is the life valued, honored ... the life worth living.
