Boy Scouts Name Kathy Olsen the East County Distinguished Citizen of the Year

The co-owner of RCP Block & Brick will be honored at a ceremony Friday night.

Kathy Olsen of RCP Block & Brick, headquartered in Lemon Grove, is being honored by the Boy Scouts of America San Diego-Imperial Council for her longtime service to the community and support of scouting. She has been named 2011 East County Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the organization’s Heartland District and will be recognized at a dinner in her honor Friday night at the El Cajon Elks Lodge.

To achieve Eagle Scout rank, a scout must organize and carry out a community service project, including obtaining all the materials necessary to get the project done. Through her company, Olsen has supplied scouts with the blocks, bricks and other materials they need.

“Kathy has given a lot to Eagle Scout projects over the years,” Heartland District Executive Trent McClure said. “Many young men have gone to in the past and Kathy has been generous in donating.”
