I don't care if someone is here legally or illegally when it comes to hit and run. I think this isRead More a great system suggestion. I wish I had a way to install a GoPro system in my car that would capture three minute segments in 360 degrees. Kind of like a black box in aircraft but also have an image file in addition to a systems analysis file. This sure would help in determining blame in an accident....

This is funny a complete political segue for a Commi Democrat / Liberal to introduce more ways toRead More apply taxes. i.e. additional $15.00 DMV fee to pay for Yellow Alerts.

This is a great idea but why do drivers hit and run I believe many don't have insurance or are underRead More the influence of drugs and alcohol no drivers license or registration, undocumented and drivers with warrants. We have the technology to take many drivers off the road remember it's a numbers game with hit and runners. How about on your license tags we start putting chips that send out a signal when your insurance is cancelled let's say after 15 days or license is suspended or a warrant is issued that would alert other drivers and law enforcement via the electronic road alert signs.think about this when you drive in the fast tract lanes your transponder sends and receives a signal which chargers your account but also alerts CHP that you don't have a transponder or possibility are a single driver in violation of the law. Along with a camera that would only take a picture for violators. Believe it or not most of the technologies are already in place in most cases we just need to combine and in prove the technologies already in place. This would also deter drivers from stealing your tags because there's is expired. This is a much different world we live in then years past. I was born in the 40s and raised in the 50s we had respect for others and family and not to say most of us don't but for the ones few that don't respect life and would leave you to die on the road side let's get them off the road.this technology could also block your cell phone from working if you don't have a hands free device in place. One last thing start noticing how many drivers just don't stop at a red light or stop sign they just slow down and roll through what don't they understand that Stop means Stop.

They didn't waste much time with Timothy McVeigh who killed 144 people including children but oneRead More official said that he's getting a free ticket out of this world with hardly anytime in prison.

People must not be privi to the tendency of the deceiving mind to gradually take over, to ultimatelyRead More use their force in the most corruptible ways.

Is the idea of ulterior motives exclusive to law enforcement? NO. Is there the opportunity forRead More corruption and abuse in the process? Yes, but that is inherent with simply handing someone a badge and giving them arrest powers. I'm beginning to think you may have had a less than pleasureable experience with law enforcement at some point and carry a little too much of it with you. Police are allowed to lie cheat and steal to get information from you...you may as well accept that fact because the Supreme Court has.

No major run-ins with the police. And would like to keep it that way. If the police aren'tRead More accountable to something higher, like you and me, then we all start losing our community. If you have the courage, review what can come of a police state: http://www.policebrutality.info/

This is nice, but Murphy's Law has it the big one will hit two days after the contract expires. OurRead More fire season has been known to extend into February. An aggressive fuel management program would be effective in protecting residents long after any contract runs out. The county has jails full of inmates with not a damn thing to do all day but get into mischief. Our county should hire Sheriff Joe Arpaio as a consultant to organize a jail labor brush clearing program. It would be a very productive and meaningful way for the inmates to repay their debt to society.

I appreciate your comment Jeremiah and I don't think I could've said it better myself, so I won't beRead More redundant. Except to repeat only one thing-- This is why Mr Melhman: "the age limit is based on the medical risk profile that would endanger both the employee and the public he is tasked with serving. The likelihood of sudden debilitating circumstances increases with age and these jobs have a stress level which can precipitate it." I'm still of working age yet from day to day I have bizarre health issues pop up. I run abt 3-5 miles per day, 5-6 days a week. I'm in excellent health. I'm also clever and a bright individual. Yet I've begun having pains in places, and I'm also getting forgetful. My eyesight is decreasing. I get stressed easier than I used to. Because this is our natural human aging process. we age. we just do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, in reading this article, I didn't read, nor did I realize we were discussing being let go at a certain age. I thought we were talking about applying for the job, where can age limit is set due to medical and statistical averages. So I agree with you, I do not think a person should be let go the day they turn 62. Most others do also, that;s why we are offered pensions at particular ages for incentive. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lastly, your point using vote vs age limits is like comparing dogs to elephants, and completely irrelevant. We're talking about a person's capability to perform a certain type of job.

**** And I bet SouthernBelle knows something many women and men have forgotten - it's a whole lotRead More more fun acting out the roles when men act like men and women act like women and we all play the game and enjoy life as equal but thankfully different! **** Any good man who values his life knows women are superior to men and don't argue with them because even if you win, you lose!! :-) **** hahahahahahahahahaha!!! Yep, exactly how I feel. There are many many careers out there to choose from. Maybe a girl's passion is to put on 100 lbs of equipment and run up stairs to fight a fire and carry out a 250 lb man- but I'm guessing more aren't than are interested in that. But I'll tell you what, if my daddy's house catches fire and some gal runs up his stairs she best be able to carry him down because HIS life depends on it. And if she can't, then her taking a job she's unable to perform is just wrong.
southernbelle July 12, 2014 at 04:01 pm
one more thing--Mr Melhman, Not sure how long you've been in the area or if you are familiar with LARead More county hiring for Police and fire. But over the past 10 yrs they have had to lower their physical ability testing, as well as their hiring requirements because they had to account for women's physical abilities, and not enough men or women were passing the orals due to prior drug use (even trying it once counts), criminal records (DUI's fall in this), etc. This is also why the quality is lower than it used to be. We haven't seen nothing yet! It's abt to get a whole lot worse because no one wants police officer jobs anymore. so sad how we treat them!

Hey men, there's a saying, "never assume a gun is unloaded." problem with the semi's isRead More that when one is careless, sh-t happens. Our Border Patrol's duties are not as easy as they were in the 50's thanks to all that's been going on since then. My main point with this is that tis type of coverage with this story does not warrant the notoriety for this mistake. My guess is that we have just made this man's life more difficult.

This is exactly why I don't help women anymore. There have been several times in my life, when I'veRead More helped a woman who should never have been in a violent relationship with a thug in the first place. And every time, they've eventually put themselves back into the same situation. Going forward, rather than help, my response will be to laugh. These tramps are not worth it.

According to city halls and state legislatures throughout America, Travel is something that onlyRead More Rich people do; so their hotel rooms must be taxed at 20% (and often higher). As some might similarly think that "spas are only for rich people," there are probably millions of lefties who view this man as a hero.
