Sorry not true.... Up to about 100K everyone pays payroll tax, around 9%? the employers match theRead More 9% (this can be considered 18% as this is only paid on behalf of a worker and is a part of compensation). People up to 100K pay local taxes, and as the portion of their income for food and necessities is 100% of their pay (vs. a wealthy person who invests the money above their requirement) so while a Warren Buffett or Mitt Romney pay 13-14% (their payroll taxes are inconsequential), the poor guy at Starbucks pays a minimum of 25% in taxes. With property taxes, use taxes, gas taxes, etc. the lower tier of Americans pay a HUGE amount more percentage-wise then wealthy people... But the 3% own the papers, etc. so there you go!

It is quite clear Sister, that you don't understand the difference between "charity" whichRead More the Catholic Church is and has been a leader in the US and around the world. The church as a whole provides services by the generosity of its church members, NOT by the government, which if I am not mistaken doesn't give the Catholic church much of anything. And if you care to do the research ( I have) the percentage of persons getting some form of government assistance is approaching 50% thanks to unemployment which has gotten much worse under this administration. And if you take the time to look at the numbers, what Paul Ryan has suggested is to reform our current social security system (which those of us who work) pay into all our lives but only for those under the age of 50. The current retirement system was established when average life expectance was barely 60 (which is now 75+) and didn't provide for persons not a part of the legal work force not disability which we all know is "milked" by some for all its worth. Mr Ryan and most intellegent persons know stopping fraud and reform must happen to provide for the future retirees that have not reached the age of 50 yet. And one final word, just where does the donations come from to the church, It not government, it is to a large part the people who make over $250,000 a year and tithe big.

gay soldier, you must have not gotten the memo, " you people" has now been deemedRead More politically incorrect hate speech. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/07/did-ann-romney-say-you-people-the-road-argument-at-a-truck-shop-boehner-on-bachmann-rubios-anti-pledge-drive/ But it's tough to keep up with who you are insulting these days.

Remember that July 28th is a Community Clean Up Day! The City has fabulously decided that 1 day wasRead More not enough for all us to rid our junk. This is the day!! It's FREE- please note what they DO NOT allow. What a great opportunity for couches to get off the front porch and old fencing to go in the dumpster. It is freeing to get rid of stuff, then you don't have to take care of it!!! So trim those trees, and bushes and take them to the corner of Central and Olive on 7/28!! Here's the info:http://www.ci.lemon-grove.ca.us/Calendar.aspx?EID=874

I tried to opt out of having SDG&E install the smart meter at my house in Lemon Grove. TheRead More representative I spoke with told me theer would be a $125 one time fee, then $10 per month extra not to have the meter. This could discourage we customers on a fixed income to give up!

Dear Jill, You are in the "historical" heart (thank you for that word). You are in anRead More Art Deco building attached to a Spanish Mission Revival, across from the Mission Revival bakery (built 1912) and another Art Deco on the corner; a heartbeat from the Queen Anne Victorian Revival trolley depot -- and let's not forget the fabulous, 1936 McGregor House, a beautiful Spanish Revival that shares a parking lot with City Hall McGregor was designed by the great Alberto Treganza, who also designed the Big Lemon. Love your clean-up day -- alas, we have an event on June 3 that has been in the works for some time, relating to the centennial of the birth of Dr. Amorita Treganza (daughter of Alberto), the famed children's eye doctor in our town. Please let us know about future clean-ups and we'll be there.

This was a very special day and the final product looks incredible. I can't wait for the kids andRead More families to come to school tomorrow to see the auditorium make-over and gardening projects that were completed over the weekend. It is amazing to think that the volunteers were able to paint the auditorium from top to bottom in less than 6 hours. Thank you Rotarians, DC Painting, Lemon Grove Starbucks and community members for your combined efforts! I am grateful for your involvement and commitment to Golden Avenue Elementary. Personally, I think it matters... when one calls another out on not being transparent; wouldn't beRead More transparent yourself be paramount in the situation?

Well what's your real name, NBG? Scott? David? Why chastise someone for having a username which mayRead More or may not represent the true identity of said poster when you're essentially rocking your own boat? Just my two cents.
