Golden Avenue, the district's school closest to downtown Lemon Grove, focuses on health and fitness with itsMore comprehensive wellness program and a before-school jogging club. The school's mascot is the tiger. The school also has a daily Positive Action curriculum to encourage good behavior, and a gardening club. The school boasts the best attendance rate in the district.

The Lemon Grove Academy for the Sciences and Humanities has been opened since its new remodeling on Sept.More 4, 2012. The school formerly known as Lemon Grove Middle School, serves about 1,100 students from preschool through 8th grade. The principal is Mr. Rick Oser.</p> <p>Since it has re-opened, the school features many improvements and additions to its facilities including the classrooms, news labs, locker rooms and the cafeteria area as well as many other upgrades. There is also now a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program available to students. It’s remodeling was part of a $10.4 million project funded by Proposition W.</p> <p>The academy's campus spans Lincoln Street and School Lane and combines the middle school with Golden Avenue Elementary School. A new 13,500-square-foot library operated by the San Diego County Library will be available starting in the spring of 2013. Partnerships with the University of California, San Diego, provide free health care to students and their families at separate medical and dental clinics on campus.</p>
