Doug Williams, Neighbor

Doug writes a column on folks who make a living in La Mesa. He also shares discoveries on outdoor wonders. He lives next to Lake Murray, and has worn many hats in journalism, from reporter to photographer to columnist to copy editor/page designer to section editor. His last title at <i>The San Diego Union-Tribune</i>, where he worked more than 20 years, was sports editor.

Doug has been a Lake Murray denizen since 1987, and spent countless hours walking and cycling around its shore. When not trekking around the lake, he&#39;s hiking at Mission Trails Regional Park, reading, swimming, grilling, spending time with his wife and two daughters, watching baseball, catching up on old cable TV series he never used to have the time to watch or trying to play golf. 

He says: &#34;If you see me up on the top of Cowles Mountain or cruising around Lake Murray, please stop and say hello. Just speak up, please. The iPod may be up full blast.&#34;
